National Tourism Strategy 2015

The National Tourism Strategy 2015–2019, developed by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, set the foundation for tourism as a driver of inclusive economic growth in the Solomon Islands. The strategy emphasized building international awareness of the country as a niche tourism destination, improving visitor infrastructure, and strengthening service quality and standards.

It prioritized key markets such as Australia, New Zealand, and Asia, while also highlighting the importance of cruise tourism, cultural heritage, diving, and ecotourism. The plan underscored the need for public–private partnerships, stronger marketing, workforce training, and supportive regulatory frameworks to create sustainable growth and greater participation of local communities .
